Vector Motors was an American supercar manufacturer created by designer Gerald Wiegert to challenge established European exotics with aerospace-inspired engineering and dramatic styling. Its most recognizable production model, the Vector W8, paired a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a modified three-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The wedge-shaped body used carbon fiber and Kevlar panels over an aluminum honeycomb structure, while the cockpit drew heavily from contemporary fighter aircraft. Vector later introduced the Lamborghini-powered M12, but production remained extremely limited throughout the company’s history. Built for wealthy enthusiasts seeking something rarer and more unconventional than a Ferrari or Lamborghini, Vector cars remain notable examples of ambitious American supercar design.
