SSC North America is a privately held American hypercar manufacturer founded by Jerod Shelby in 1999 and headquartered in Richland, Washington. Originally called Shelby SuperCars, the company later adopted its current name to distinguish it from Carroll Shelby’s unrelated automotive businesses. SSC gained international attention with the Ultimate Aero, which set a production-car speed record in 2007. Its successor, the Tuatara, continues the brand’s focus on aerodynamic efficiency, lightweight construction, and extreme twin-turbo V8 performance. Unlike large-volume automakers, SSC builds vehicles in very limited numbers for collectors and performance enthusiasts.
