Samsung
Samsung Motors was a South Korean car manufacturer established in 1995, with passenger-car production beginning in 1998 through the Nissan-based SM5 sedan. Renault acquired the company’s automotive operations in 2000 and renamed it Renault Samsung Motors, retaining the Samsung name for the Korean market. Its later lineup included sedans and SUVs such as the SM3, SM5, SM6, SM7, QM3, and QM6, many of which shared engineering with Renault or Nissan models. The company developed a reputation for comfortable road manners, practical interiors, and strong local customer service. After operating as Renault Korea Motors, it adopted the shorter Renault Korea name in 2024, ending the Samsung branding while continuing vehicle production at its Busan plant.
